Stonequest Privacy Policy

Welcome to Stonequest! This Privacy Policy is meant to help you understand how we collect, use, and safeguard your personal information.

Information We Collect

Stonequest collects rudimentary information from your login provider (e.g., Google, Facebook) account, including your unique ID (typically a unique string of letters and numbers), display name, photo, and/or email address. These items are not necessarily tied to your real identity, and Stonequest has no way of determining whether they do. Thus, you retain primary control of what information you share with the Stonequest application.

We use this information solely to provide you with a customized gaming experience, associating your game data (characters, preferences, etc.) with your account. For instance, your display name (not necessarily your real name) is displayed in the high scores list and your unique ID is used to keep track of which characters are yours. Of this, only your unique ID is truly essential to Stonequest, and it does not "care" what that value is, just so long as it is unique.

Error and Diagnostic Logs

When something goes wrong, Stonequest records the error, the browser you were using, the version of the game, and your unique ID, so that a problem can be traced back to the session that hit it. These logs exist to fix bugs and answer support questions. They are not used to build a profile of you, and they are not shared for advertising.

Cookies and Local Storage

Stonequest stores a small amount of data in your browser. Most of it is needed for the game to work at all, and none of it is used for advertising. Stonequest shows no ads and carries no advertising or social-media trackers.

Needed to run the game

These are stored whenever you use Stonequest, because without them the game cannot sign you in, save your progress, or protect itself from abuse:

  • Your signed-in session, so you stay logged in between visits.
  • An offline cache of your own game data (characters, preferences, and similar), so play continues smoothly.
  • Configuration and feature settings that tell the app how to behave.
  • An anti-abuse check (Google reCAPTCHA and Firebase App Check) that lets our servers tell a real player from an automated one. Every request the game makes carries this check.
  • Small interface reminders, such as your preferences, whether you have already seen the mobile-device notice or the latest announcement, and the choice you make about analytics below.

We also use Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights to see overall traffic and page-loading speed. To be clear, this is analytics rather than something the game needs in order to run, and it is not covered by the choice below — it keeps measuring either way. It is listed here because it sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device, so there is no identifier on your machine to turn off.

Only with your permission

Google Analytics records anonymous statistics about how the game is played, which helps show which parts get used. It sets cookies whose names begin with _ga and stores an identifier in your browser.

This is entirely optional. Stonequest does not load Google Analytics, and none of those cookies are created, unless you allow it. The game plays exactly the same either way. If you change your mind, turning it off here stops the collection and clears those cookies.

Your Analytics Choice

Your choice is remembered on this browser only, so you may see the request again on a different browser or device. You can change it at any time, right here:

Data Deletion

You have the right to request the deletion of your data. To do so, please leave feedback for us in the Utilities screen within the app. Once we receive your request, we will promptly delete your data from our records.

Data Usage and Sharing

Stonequest does not sell your personal information, and does not share it with third parties for advertising. Your data is used to run the game and to support you as a player.

Stonequest is built on services that process data on our behalf in order to provide the game: Google Firebase (sign-in, database, anti-abuse, and — only with your permission — analytics) and Vercel (hosting and traffic measurement). If you sign in through Google or Facebook, that provider necessarily knows you signed in to Stonequest.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page, and the effective date will be updated accordingly. If a change materially affects the choice you made about analytics, we will ask you again.
